You can build the best software in the world, but if it doesn’t get used, it’s worthless. With that in mind, we’d like to show off some of the work we’ve been doing with Emerson Human Capital to develop a playbook to help contractors successfully adopt and use the MindForge platform. We understand that introducing any new software or process to an organization requires the workforce to adopt new behaviors. These new behaviors confront the workforce with change, and change can be challenging. Change and the resistance to it can be one of the biggest barriers we face in our effort to reduce serious injuries and fatalities.
The first step in creating this playbook is to nail down the MindForge story so we can clearly communicate our intentions. What problem are we solving with MindForge? How will we solve it? And what is the desired result?
To this end, Emerson facilitated a workshop that was attended by team members from MindForge, Pankow, and ACIG to help us define a story framework. The framework looks like this:
Building on this framework, here is the MindForge Story:
❝The lack of a unified communication channel from home office to frontline workers has a direct effect on safety, which has led to serious injuries and fatalities not declining at an acceptable rate.
Today, the challenge facing the construction industry is to create a centralized place to find credentials, skills, and training for workers
MindForge has developed an integrated, best-in-class, cloud-based software platform that streamlines how we manage, train, and educate the construction industry. The platform helps:
Foster consistent communication to and from frontline workers
Provide easy access anywhere, anytime via the mobile platform
Aggregate, customize, and push training to workers on demand
Our centralized approach makes it easy for construction companies to manage their resources better.
MindForge will enable a culture of increased productivity and better safety practices for construction companies, and that will ultimately lead to saving lives.❞
This story enables those working on implementing MindForge to describe the project consistently and passionately, without PowerPoint or memos. This drives the compelling story of the change down into the organization so that all key stakeholders are “on message” and pulling in the same direction.
We will fine-tune the story for different stakeholders so that it resonates with everyone from the CEO to the frontline worker. Over time, we will test this story and refine it as needed.
Next, we will be working with Emerson on an Employee Experience Plan and Focus Attention Strategy that we can deploy with MindForge.
We’re excited to continue sharing our story across the construction industry in an effort to save lives and improve efficiency. Remember, we already have the resources to streamline communication between the corporate office and the frontline worker through mindforge.studio, the MindForge App, and the CLS App. If you haven’t set up your account yet, you can go do it today. If you’re ready to onboard your entire organization, email Stokes (Stokes.M@IRMI.com) or Shahin (Shahin.A@IRMI.com), and they’ll be happy to take it from there.
And in case you’re wondering what the MindForge App and CLS App are all about, Stokes made this short video to help explain the two products. Enjoy:
Take care and have a great rest of the week!
